Nonlinear adiabatic electron plasma waves: I. General theory and nonlinear frequency shift

چکیده

This paper provides a complete self-consistent nonlinear theory for electron plasma waves, within the framework of adiabatic approximation. The applies whatever variations wave amplitude, provided that they are slow enough, and it is also valid when inhomogeneous non stationary. Moreover, accounts for: (i) geometrical jump in action resulting from separatrix crossing; (ii) continuous change phase velocity making frame non-inertial; (iii) harmonic content scalar potential ; (iv) non-zero vector (v) transition probabilities one region space to other an orbit crosses (vi) possible direction wavenumber. relative importance each aforementioned effects discussed detail, based on derivation frequency shift. allows specify how general formalism may be simplified, depending value wavenumber normalized Debye length. Specific applications our reported companion paper.
